Community Service Groups

Braille Workers

Hope members participate in assembling Braille Bibles for distribution to clients in foreign countries. On the first and second Tuesdays of each month they meet in the Multipurpose Room at Hope.

Faith in Action, NE Austin Caregivers

Hope members, along with members from several other churches in NE Austin, help seniors stay independent by providing transportation, information and referrals, friendly visits, and minor home repairs.  There are many seniors in NE Austin, including several from Hope, who regularly use this service.

Food Pantry

Every Monday, Hope runs a food pantry for people in need. Clients are welcome to come every week as needed. Bags of canned food, staples, and other non-perishable foods are assembled and distributed. Clients are also given pastries donated by a local food store and items such as apples, onions, and potatoes donated by the Capital Area Food Bank.

Nursing Home Ministries

Elderhaven Adult Day Care Center:  On Fridays, members visit Elderhaven Adult Day Care Center and lead an average of 40 residents in a bible study discussion. Hope members also provide refreshments every other month for Elderhaven’s monthly birthday party.

Oakcrest Nursing Home: Each Wednesday morning a group of Hope members visit Oakcrest Nursing Home on HWY 290. Hope is the only church at this time providing spiritual nurture to Oakcrest. Hope members lead the residents in singing familiar hymns and have a short homily or sermonOakcrest
