Making Friends Growing Family!

The Hope Church Council adopted several goals for this year at the leadership retreat at the beginning of the year.  One of them was to find ways to help move our guests and friends into fellowship with us as part of our church family.

For the last several years, we have had residents from the local group homes participate in our congregational life in many ways:  they worship with us, attend Bible class, attend some of the social functions, and make use of our weekly food bank.  But, what else could they benefit from? What might Hope do to address their needs better and understand their lives and living situations more thoroughly?

This coming Tuesday, October 27, the Hope Church Council will host a forum to learn more about the group homes in our area and their residents. This meeting will be held in the Parish Hall from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  The guest speaker will be Rebecca Hyatt, Case Manager with the Austin/Travis County Mental Health Defender Office. She will have a presentation for us, and then will entertain questions to help us get some direction and ideas about Hope might become more involved in addressing the gaps in the lives and services for these Northeast Austin residents.
