Psalm 16:8
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

I don’t know about you, but when I turn on the news it is filled with such depressing and scary reports. The world is going crazy and so are we if we fill our hearts with this junk. The things going on in our world, country and even our own state and city is enough to overwhelm anyone’s heart. Scriptures tell us to keep our eyes fixed on heaven, and heavenly things. Today, many people spend so much time looking down at their cell phones, doctors are treating patients at an alarming rate for “Text Neck” a condition where the strain on the neck from looking down so much can cause permanent damage. The Bible is saying to lift your eyes, from the things of this world, the material things, the violence and abuses of this world that drag your hearts into despair and look to God in heaven. This is where true joy and happiness can be found. Think about the first thing you think about when you get up in the morning. I bet most people start thinking about what they must do that day, which means we are already looking down. What if the first thing we did was look to heaven and ask God to help us through our day? I bet we would find if we spent more time looking up, rather than down, we would feel much better and feel more equipped to handle the junk this world throws at us.
Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”.
