October 26 – Deuteronomy 28:1-22; Matthew 18:1-20
Deut 28–All the earth’s people will see that you are called by the Lord’s name, and they will be in awe of you.
Matt 18–”For where two or three are gathered in My name, there I am with them.”
Deut 28:2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
Matt. 18:5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Deut 28:1,2 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nation on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.
Matt 18:5 “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
October 25—Deuteronomy 27:1-26; Matthew 17:14-27
Deut 27–”Cursed is anyone who doesn’t support the words of this Instruction by carrying them out.
Matt 18–”Those who humble themselves like this little child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Deut: – 26 “Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.”
Matt.- 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Deut 27:26 …Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
Matt 17:22,23 When they came together in Galilee, he said to them,, “The son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.” And the disciples were filled with grief.
October 24—Deuteronomy 25:17—26:19; Matthew 17:1-13
Deut 26–The Lord brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with awesome power, and with signs and wonders.
Matt 17–A voice from the cloud said, “This is My Son whom I dearly love. I am very pleased with Him. Listen to Him!”
Deut. The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.
Matt. – But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished
October 23—Deuteronomy 24:10—25:10; Matthew 16:13-28
Deut 24–Parents shouldn’t be executed because of what their children have done; neither should children be executed because of what their parents have done. Each person should be executed for their own guilty acts.
Matt 16—”I’ll give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Anything you fasten on earth will be fastened in heaven. Anything you loosen on earth will be loosened in heaven.”
Deut. -this brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, take off one of his sandals, spit in his face and say, “This is what is done to the man who will not build up his brother’s family line.” 10 That man’s line shall be known in Israel as The Family of the Unsandaled. Matt. – “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Deut 24: 19 When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
Matt 16:15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the christ, the son of the living God.”
October 22—Deuteronomy 21:1-23; Matthew 16:1-12
Deut 21–Furthermore, you must not pollute the ground that the Lord your God is giving to you as an inheritance.
Matt 16—”An evil and unfaithful generation searches for a sign. But it won’t receive any sign except Jonah’s sign.”
Deut. – That son is the first sign of his father’s strength.
Matt. – But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Deut 21:8 “Accept this atonement for your people Israel when you have redeemed, O Lord, and do not hold your people guilty of the blood of an innocent man.”
Matt 16:6 “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
October 21—Deuteronomy 20:1-20; Matthew 15:21-39
Deut 20–”Don’t be discouraged! Don’t be afraid! Don’t panic!”
Matt 15–”Where are we going to get enough food in this wilderness to satisfy such a big crowd?”
Deut – For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Matt. – “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.”
Deut 20:3,4 “…Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic …Fo the Lord you God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Matt 15:35,36 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied….
October 20—Deuteronomy 19:1-20; Matthew 15:1-20
Deut 19–Innocent blood must not be spilled in the land the Lord your God is giving to you as an inheritance
Matt 15–”It’s what comes out of the mouth that contaminates the person.”
Deut. – One witness is not enough to convict anyone accused of any crime or offense they may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Matt. – What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
Deut 19:9 “…love the Lord your God and to walk always in his ways…”
Matt 15:8,9 ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men’
