05 Jul Pastor’s Summer Letter

Dear Hope friends,

Wow. Wow. Wow! I was completely surprised by your recognition in Sunday worship of my 15th anniversary as pastor of Hope. And overwhelmed, too. Your kindness in marking the occasion and celebrating our ministry together means so much. Of course, as usual with this church, you were exceedingly generous with the gift of appreciation as well.

When Bill Martino was reading the letter of congratulations from Rev. Mike Newman, I was struck by all the good the Lord has accomplished among us. It is an amazing journey we have been on, full of twists and turns to be sure, along with hills and valleys, and through it all God has been faithful to us and carried us along in the grace of Christ Jesus.

While looking back on fifteen years of blessing, it is necessary also to look ahead. What will the years ahead hold and how will we make use of our time on earth and at Hope? With a strong foundation in place, Hope’s future is filled with much potential.

I believe we will continue to be a people of great warmth, great zeal, great energy, and great faith. I believe that the living God will continue to be present and active among us, through Word and Sacrament, with prayer and fellowship and service marking us as disciples of Jesus. I believe that we will continue to be a beacon of hope for the community as we strive to put faith and love into practice.

I am thankful that the Holy Spirit has called you and me into shared ministry to Know Jesus, Grow in Jesus, and Show Jesus.

In Christ,

Pastor Heckmann
