Bernice (Bunce) Symank Kissman, age 88 of Austin, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born in Marlin, Texas, on October 25, 1927, to Richard and Bertha (Reinke) Symank. She was baptized into Christ on November 20, 1927, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Riesel, Texas. She was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 6, 1941, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Austin.

Bernice graduated from Austin High School in 1945, and immediately was employed by the Steck Company. She next worked for the Texas Highway Department where she stayed for 32 years. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as the Sunday School secretary and was in the Altar Guild. Hope Lutheran Church was her last home, since 1983, where she was active int he Altar Guild and volunteered in the church office.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edgar Kissman, son Neal Kissman, and grandchildren Mahayla and Brandan Kissman; also by her brother Ervin Symank and wife Frances.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church Food Pantry or Altar Guild.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they shall rest from their labor.
