When you are asked to tell someone about yourself, how do you respond? Today’s culture is all about titles. Are you a Democrat or Republican, Conservative or a Liberal? What’s your job title, or status within your own peer group?
We all have a title, and some have multiple titles. How do these titles affect our lives? I was given lots of titles when I was in school–loser, dummy, and trash. Then at home I was labeled with even more titles, such as stupid and not worth of the air I breathe. The list could go on and on as I grew up.
These titles began to form my identity, what I thought about myself, and how I believe God felt about me. It is so easy to fall prey to the noise of this world and lose the Voice of God. We need to listen more to God than others in the world.
Ephesians 1:4 “For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.” God has chosen all of us, each of us, you and I. He made us in His image. Let that fill your hearts. A manmade title has no value over the title God gives you–his beloved child and child of the One true God.
