August 10—1 Samuel 25:23-44; 1 Corinthians 4:1-21
1Sam 25–”The Lord will definitely make an enduring dynasty for my master because my master fights the Lord’s battles”
1 Cor 4–What do you have that you didn’t receive?
1 Samuel – The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles,
1 Corinthians -For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.
I Sam 25:29 “…Go home in peace…”
I Cor 4: 7 “For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive?”
August 9—1 Samuel 25:1-22; 1 Corinthians 3:1-23
1 Sam 25–”they were a protective wall around us both night and day.”
1 Cor 3–the only one who is anything is God who makes it grow.
1 Samuel – It’s been useless—all my watching over this fellow’s property in the wilderness so that nothing of his was missing. He has paid me back evil for good
1 Corinthians – Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
I Sam 25:6 “…’Long life to you! Good health to and your household! And good health to all that is yours!’”
I Cor 3:7 “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything but only God, who make things grow.”
August 8—1 Samuel 24:1-22; 1 Corinthians 1:26—2:16
1Sam 20–”The Lord is witness between us and between our descendants forever.”
1Cor 1–I thank my God always for you, because of God’s grace that was given to you in Christ Jesus.
1 Samuel – The Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the Lord’s anointed, or lay my hand on him; for he is the anointed of the Lord.
1 Corinthians – Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.
I Sam 24:12 “May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.”
Cor 1: 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
August 7—1 Samuel 20:24-42; 1 Corinthians 1:1-25
1 Sam 24–”This is the day the Lord spoke of when He promised you, ‘I will hand your enemy over to you’”
1 Cor 2–We haven’t received the world’s spirit but God’s Spirit so that we can know the things given to us by God.
1 Samuel – “Go in peace
1 Corinthians – the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God
I Sam 20:42 “…The Lord is witness between you and me,…”
I Cor 1:3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
August 6 – 1 Samuel 20:1-23, Acts 28:16-31
1 Sam 20–”But if I die, don’t ever stop being loyal to my household.”
Acts 28–”it’s because of the hope of Israel that I’m bound with this chain.”
1 Samuel – then you must go, because the Lord has sent you away.
Acts – He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!
I Sam 20:3 “…there is only a step between me and death.”
Acts 28:31 Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.
August 5 – 1 Samuel 19:1-24,Acts 28:1-15
1Sam 19–Michal said to Saul, “David told me, ‘Help me get away or I’ll kill you!’”
Acts 28–The islanders showed us extraordinary kindness.
1 Samuel – the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men, and they also prophesied
Acts – But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.
I Sam 19:5 “…The Lord won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and we’re glad. Why then you you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?”
Acts 28:15 …Paul thanked God and was encouraged.
August 4 – 1 Samuel 18:10-30, Acts 27:27-44
1Sam 18–David was successful in everything he did because the Lord was with him.
Acts 27–everyone reached land safely.
1 Samuel – “Do you think it is a small matter to become the king’s son-in-law? I’m only a poor man and little known.”
Acts – After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.
I Sam 18:28 …the Lord was with David…
Acts 27:35 …he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all.
