December 8—Isaiah 24:14—25:12; 1 John 2:15-29
Is 25–You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in distress, a hiding place from the storm, a shade from the heat.
1 John 2–Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father, but the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.
Isaiah 25:1 Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.
1 John 2:28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
Is 25:1 O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
1 Jn 2:25 And this is what he promised us–even eternal life.
December 9—Isaiah 26:1-19; 1 John 3:1-24
Is 26–Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is a rock for all ages.
1 John 3– But if someone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but refuses to help—how can the love of God dwell in a person like that?
Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is a rock for all ages.
1 John 3:18 Little children, let’s not love with words or speech but with action and truth.
Is 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.
1 Jn 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
December 10—Isaiah 26:20—27:13; 1 John 4:1-21
Is 27–Sing about a delightful vineyard! I, the Lord, am its guardian.
1 John 4–The person who doesn’t love does not know God, because God is love.
Isaiah 27:12 They will bow to the Lord at his holy mountain in Jerusalem.
1 John 4:11 If we love each other, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us.
Is 27:5 “Or else let them come to memoir refuge; let them make peace with me, yes, let them make peace with me.”
1 Jn 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
December 11—Isaiah 28:14-29; 1 John 5:1-21
Is 28–This also comes from the Lord of heavenly forces, who gives wondrous counsel and increases wisdom.
1 John 5–Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born from God.
Isaiah 28:22 So now stop your scoffing, or your chains will be tightened, because destruction has been ordered—I have heard it! by the Lord God of heavenly forces against the whole land.
1 John 5:13 you who believe in the name of God’s Son so that you can know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence that we have in our relationship with God: If we ask for anything in agreement with his will, he listens to us. 15 If we know that he listens to whatever we ask, we know that we have received what we asked from him.
Is 28:16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, “He did not make me”? Can the pot say of the potter, “He knows nothing”?
1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
December 12—Isaiah 29:1-14; Jude 1-25
Isaiah 29:13 these people turn toward me with their mouths, and honor me with lip service while their heart is distant from me, and their fear of me is just a human command that has been memorized,
Jude vs. 25. To the one who is able to protect you from falling, and to present you blameless and rejoicing before his glorious presence, to the only God our savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, belong glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all time, now and forever. Amen.
Is 29: 5,6 … Suddenly in an instant, the Lord Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and a great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.
Jude 18,19 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
December 13—Isaiah 29:15—30:14; Revelation 1:1-20
Is 29–The poor will again find joy in the Lord
Rev 1–Jesus Christ–the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler of the kings of the earth.
Isaiah 29:16 Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter, “You know nothing”?
Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Is 30:9 These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.
Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega. “says the Lord God “Who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
December 14—Isaiah 30:15-26; Revelation 2:1-19
Is 30–Nonetheless, the Lord is waiting to be merciful to you, and will rise up to show you compassion.
Rev 2–Change your hearts and lives and do the things you did at first.
Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Revelation 2:10 Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
