May 11—Exodus 40:17-38; Luke 8:40-56
Ex 40–the Lord’s glorious presence filled the dwelling
Luke 8–He pleaded with Jesus to come to his house.
Exodus – So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.
Luke – Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Ex 40:33 …And so Moses finished the work.
Lk 8:50 …”Don’t be afraid; just believe…”
May 10—Exodus 39:32—40:16; Luke 8:22-39
Luke 8–”Where is your faith?”
Exodus – Moses inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as the Lord had commanded. So Moses blessed them.
Luke – “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.”
Ex 40:16 Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him.
Lk 8:25 “Where is your faith?”…
May 9—Exodus 38:21—39:8, 22-23, 27-31; Luke 8:1-21
Ex. 39—“Holy to the Lord”
Luke 8—“The seed that fell on good soil are those who hear the word and commit themselves to it with a good and upright heart.”
Exodus – shows how richly God provided for the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.
Luke – “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
Ex 38-39 As the Lord commanded
Lk 8:2 …and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases…3 …These women were helping to support them out of their own means.
May 8—Exodus 34:29—35:21; Luke 7:36-50
Ex 35–Whoever freely wants to give should bring the Lord’s gift offerings
Luke 7—”her many sins have been forgiven; so she has shown great love.”
Exodus – But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.
Luke – “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Ex 8:5 From what you have, take an offering for the Lord…
Lk 7:47 “Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven–for she loved much…”
May 7—Exodus 34:1-28; Luke 7:18-35
Ex 34–”forgive our guilt and our sin and take as Your own possession.”
Luke 7–”Go, report…what you have seen and heard.”
Exodus – Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Be ready in the morning,
Luke – “I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
Ex 34:6 …The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…
Lk 7:22 “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the good news is preached to the poor.”
May 6—Exodus 33:1-23; Luke 7:1-17
Ex 33–”I’ll send a messenger before you.”
Luke 7–”Just say the word and my servant will be healed.”
Exodus – The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.
Luke – “God has come to help his people.”
Ex 33:19 …I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Lk 7:13,15 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
May 5—Exodus 32:15-35; Luke 6:39-49
Ex 32–”Today you’ve been ordained to the Lord, each one of you at the cost of a son or a brother.”
Luke 6–”Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and don’t do what I say?”
Exodus – “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book”
Luke – But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.
Ex 32:29 You have been set aside for the Lord…
Lk 6:41 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
