July 20—1 Samuel 3:1-21; Acts 16:1-22
1Sam 3–Speak, Lord. Your servant is listening.
Acts 16–”Come over to Macedonia and help us!”
1 Samuel – ‘The guilt of Eli’s house will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.’
Acts – “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

July 19—1 Samuel 2:18-36; Acts 15:22-41
1 Samuel 2–”I honor those who honor Me, and whoever despises Me will be cursed.”
Acts 15–Judas and Silas were prophets, and they said many things that encouraged and strengthened the brothers and sisters.
1 Samuel – Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained
Acts – Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.
I Sam 2:25 …If a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?”…
Acts 15:41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

July 18—1 Samuel 1:21—2:17; Galatians 6:1-18
1 Samuel 1–”But may the Lord bring to pass what you have promised.”
Gal 6–let’s work for the good of all whenever we have an opportunity, and especially for those in the household of faith.
1 Samuel – This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they[f] were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt
Galatians – Each one should test their own actions
I Sam 2:3 “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.”
Gal 6:4,5 “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.”

July 17—1 Samuel 1:1-20; Galatians 5:1-26
1 Samuel 1–”This whole time I’ve been praying out of my great trouble and worry!”
Gal 5–You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only don’t let this freedom be an opportunity to indulge your selfish impulses, but serve each other through love.
1 Samuel – Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard
Galatians – The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
I Sam 1:17 “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”
Gal 5:6 “…The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

July 16—Judges 16:4-30; Galatians 4:12-31
Judges 16–”Lord God, please remember me!”
Gal 4–we aren’t the slave woman’s children, but we are the free woman’s children.
Judges – “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”
Galatians – t is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you.
Judges 16:20 …the Lord had left him.
Gal. 4:15 “What has happened to all your joy?…”

July 15—Judges 15:1—16:3; Galatians 3:23—4:11
Judges 15–But he told them, “I did to them just what they did to me.”
Gal 4–God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
Judges – The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him.
Galatians – So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
Judges 15:11…”I merely did to them what they did to me.”
Gal 3:26 “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

July 14—Judges 14:1-20; Galatians 3:1-22
Judges 14–”If you hadn’t plowed with my heifer, you wouldn’t have figured out my riddle.”
Gal 3–After you started with the Spirit, are you now finishing up with your own human effort?
Judges – The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him
Galatians – Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain?
Judges 14:3 …”Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?”…
Gal 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.”…
