April 20—Exodus 13:17—14:9; Hebrews 7:1-22
Ex 13–The Lord went in front of them during the day in a column of cloud to guide them and at night in a column of lightning to give them light.
Heb 7–a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
Exodus – And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.
Heb – better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
Ex 13:21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day of night.
Heb 7:22 …Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
April 19—Exodus 12:29-32, 13:1-16; Hebrews 6:1-20
Ex 13–”Remember this day which is the day you came out of Egypt, out of the place you were slaves, because the Lord acted with power to bring you out of there.”
Heb 6–This is so you won’t be lazy but follow the example of the ones who inherit the promises through faith and patience.
Exodus – During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.”
Hebrews – “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”[d] 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
Ex 12:31,32 (Pharaoh said) “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.”
Heb 6:15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
April 18—Exodus 12:1-28; Hebrews 5:1-14
Ex 12–”Whenever I see the blood, I’ll pass over you.”
Heb 5–Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered.
Exodus – Take special care of this chosen animal until the evening of the fourteenth day of this first month.
Hebrews – he learned obedience from the things he suffered.
Ex 12: 12 ..”I am the Lord.” 21…the Passover lamb.
Heb 5:9 …He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
April 17—Exodus 10:21—11:10; Hebrews 4:1-16
Ex 11–The Lord made sure that the Egyptians were kind to the Hebrew people.
Heb 4–”Today, if you hear His voice, don’t have stubborn hearts.”
Exodus – Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
Hebrews – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Ex 10:22,23 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
Heb 4:7 …”Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
April 16—Exodus 9:29—10:20; Hebrews 3:1-19
Ex 9—”so that you will know that the earth belongs to the Lord.”
Heb 3—But Jesus deserves greater glory than Moses in the same way that the builder of the house deserves more honor than the house itself.
Exodus – Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials
Hebrews – “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts
Ex 9:34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again…
Heb 3:12 See to it, brothers (and sisters) that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily…
April 15—Exodus 9:1-28; Hebrews 2:1-18
Ex 9–”But the Lord will distinguish Israel’s livestock from Egypt’s livestock so that not one that belongs to the Israelites will die.”
Heb 2–This is why it’s necessary for us to pay more attention to what we have heard, or else we may drift away from it.
Exodus – Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,” he said to them. “The Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.
Hebrews – Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil
Ex 9: 14 (God said)…so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
Heb 2:1 We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
April 14—Exodus 8:1-32; Hebrews 1:1-14
Ex 8–They too made frogs crawl up onto the land of Egypt.
Heb 1-The Son is the light of God’s glory and the imprint of God’s being.
Exodus – Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”
Hebrews – The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
Ex 8:1 …Let my people go, so that they may worship me.
Heb 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
