May 4—Exodus 32:1-14; Luke 6:20-38
Ex 32–But Moses pleaded with the Lord his God
Luke 6–”Happy are you when people hate you, reject you, insult you, and condemn your name as evil because of the Son of Man.”
Exodus – Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
Luke – But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.
Ex 32:9 “I have seen these people, ” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people.”
Lk 6:27,28 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
May 3—Exodus 31:1-18; Luke 6:1-19
Ex 31–”The Sabbath is a sign between Me and you in every generation so you will know that I am the Lord who makes you holy.”
Luke 6–”The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Exodus – I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.
Luke – “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Ex 31:13…You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.
Lk 6:5 …”The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
May 2—Exodus 25:1-22; Luke 5:17-39
Ex 25–Receive My gift offerings from everyone who freely wants to give.
Luke 5–Now the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal.
Exodus – The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed.
Luke – “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Ex 25:8 … I will dwell among them.
Lk 5: 31,32 “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
May 1—Exodus 24:1-18; Luke 5:1-16
Exodus 24–”forgive our guilt and our sin and take us as Your own possession.”
Luke 5–”but because You say so”
Exodus – “Everything the Lord has said we will do.
Luke – But because you say so, I will let down the nets
Ex 24:7 … We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.
Lk 5:13 …(Jesus said) …”I am willing, Be clean!
April 30—Exodus 23:14-33; Luke 4:31-44
Ex 23–If you worship the Lord your God, the Lord will bless your bread and your water.
Luke 4–”You are the holy one from God.”
Exodus – Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”
Luke – “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.
23:20 “See I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the pace I have prepared.”
Lk 4:41…You are the Son of God!
April 29—Exodus 22:20—23:13; Luke 4:16-30
Ex 22–don’t curse your people’s chief.
Luke 4–”Today this scripture has been fulfilled”
Exodus – “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.
Luke – “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
April 28—Exodus 20:1-24; Luke 4:1-15
Ex 20–”I am loyal and gracious to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.”
Luke 4–He…was praised by everyone.
Exodus – You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
Luke – If you are the Son of God
Ex 20:3 You shall have have no other gods before me.
Luke 4:8 …Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.
