14 Jan Where’s your focus
How easy is it for us to get our eyes off the task at hand and lose track of where we are? Facilitating the Sunday morning media presentation is one place that you have to have complete focus. If you look around or think about something even for a split second, the slides will get behind. Focus is very important. It is like this with our relationship with God as well. It is very easy to look around at others and see what they are doing and lose focus on what we are doing. At my last church, the media station was above the congregation allowing me to get a birds-eye view of the congregation. I can’t remember a single Sunday that went by where I didn’t see someone on their phone or nodding off during the message. I used to get upset about it, and one day I was talking to the pastor about it, and he asked me this simple question. What were the past two messages about? Well, to my embarrassment, I had to say I could not remember exactly. Then he asked me if I could remember who was on their phone? At that point his message was clear. While I was spending time worrying where other people’s attention was directed, I had neglected what I was supposed to be focused on.
As you walk each day in the Light of Jesus Christ, be focused first on what is most important; your relationship with your Father in Heaven. Then what used to worry or bother you will not seem as important.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace…
